about
"Sudden Oak Death" is the story of a real disease that has plagued most of the forests in Northern California and parts of Oregon. Inspiration from the song comes from when two members of the band were hiking through the woods and discovered trees with bloody sores as brittle as chips and others completely fallen over from their own weight because the disease hollowed them from the inside out.
lyrics
There is a hole in the pit of my stomach
Where the birds come to die
And the moths have no escape
My eyes can't see the light
The dark swallows the sun
Sudden Oak Death
Sudden Oak Death
Underneath this tragic oak
My arms embrace the branches
The cankers bleed down my chest
The forest prepares for dieback
The roots dig into my sight
The soil collapses the inside of my lungs
Sudden Oak Death
Sudden Oak Death
